2024 CX-90 PHEV Trims and Packages
The Mazda CX-90 PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) plugs the gap between a full-blown electric vehicle and those who still trust in the use of fossil fuels.
The luxurious 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV midsize crossover was first introduced as a brand new model to the US market at the beginning of 2023 and offers three rows of seating in package choices of seven or eight-passenger configurations.
The CX-90 PHEV is available in a total of three trim levels. Read on as we share in detail the 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV trim levels and packages and what they offer buyers.
Drivetrain
The 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV's plug-in powertrain comprises the e-SKYACTIV®-PHEV: 2.5L engine and 68 kW electric motor for a total system output of 323 horsepower coupled to a 17.8-kWh battery pack. All CX-90 hybrid models are fitted with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-biased standard all-wheel drive.
All trims offer a 3500-pound towing capability.
Exterior Styling
Styling features across the trim lineup include LED headlights with auto on/off with high beam control, LED daytime running lights and combination tail lights.
Fitment of rain-sensing variable-intermittent windshield wipers up front and Intermittent rear wiper/washer are found on all trims, plus body-colored power side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals and mesh front grille in gloss black finish and black wheel arch molding.
Luxury items include a power sliding-glass moonroof with tilt feature, rear privacy glass, rear power liftgate with programmable height adjustment, aluminum roof rails in satin chrome finish, plus an AWD badge and PHEV fender badge complete the standard exterior highlights.
Interior and Cargo
The Mazda CX-90 PHEV offers buyers a luxury interior befitting of pricier luxury SUVs. It offers standard leather upholstery and upscale creature features, along with its modern cabin layout. The eight-seat layout is standard, with available second-row captain's chairs that bring the seat count down to seven.
The CX-90 shines when it comes to holiday travel and the daily shopping run with Mazda's new SUV design combining utility and technology with thoughtfully appointed storage spots around the cabin.
Standard across the range is the glove compartment, front center console armrest with storage and 2 USB type A inputs, overhead console with sunglasses holder, front and rear door bottle holders with storage pockets/bins, driver's and front passenger's seat back pockets.
The standard eight-seater CX-90 cargo area offers up to 14.9 SAE cubic feet of initial cargo space, growing to 74.2 cubic feet when using the additional space under the cargo floor and with the second and third-row seats folded down.
Those versions fitted with the second-row captain seats offer up to 15.9 SAE cubic feet of initial cargo space with up to 75.2 cubic feet when using the additional space under the cargo floor and with the second and third-row seats folded down.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
All CX-90 PHEV trims are fitted standard with the suite of driver-assistance features called i-Activsense. This system includes automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, and more. Other key safety equipment includes automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and adaptive cruise control.
Trim Levels
PHEV Preferred
The entry model of the CX-90 PHEV range comes standard in an eight-seater configuration with the option of the seven-seat package. The Preferred is comprehensively equipped with all the features detailed above, plus the following;
A 12.3 inch fully digital LCD meter display with speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge, trip computer and external temperature & clock display.
Mazda Intelligent Drive select (MI-DRIVE) with sport/off-road/EV modes, a tilt & telescopic steering column, Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry System with push button start, paddle shifters, 12-volt power outlet and remote fuel door release.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, black door panel inserts with piping, second-row retractable window shades and carpet floor mats add to the luxury experience.
The cabin also shows off a three-zone automatic climate control with a pollen filter, power windows with a one-touch down/up feature, power door locks with speed-sensing auto locking, a rearview mirror with manual day/night dimming, dual illuminated visor vanity mirrors with extension, illuminated entry system, LED map lights and front door courtesy lights.
Passenger seating comfort sees an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar support, plus the four-way power-adjustable front passenger seat is trimmed in greige or black leather with both front seats heated.
Loading convenience is accommodated with the 60/40 split fold-down and reclining 2nd-row seats with easy tilt and slide function, and third-row access is made easier with 60/40 split fold-down third-row seats.
The infotainment System comprises a 10.25-inch full-color center display with multi-function commander control and voice command, radio broadcast data system program information, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Pandora internet radio integration, SMS text message audio delivery and reply, AM/FM audio system with automatic level control and eight speakers plus steering wheel-mounted audio, phone and cruise controls.
The Preferred is available in six exterior colors, including Mazda's signature Soul Red Crystal Metallic, 19 x 8.5J aluminum alloy wheels with silver finish fitted with P 265/55 R19 all-season tires are standard.
PHEV Premium
Moving up to the Premium trim adds the 2nd-row fitted captain's chairs with armrests and center walk-through, an active driving display with traffic sign recognition, a Mazda Navigation System with SiriusXM satellite radio with 3-month trial subscription and SiriusXM 3-year traffic and travel Link subscription, a wireless phone charger, 1500-Watt accessory outlet, LED illuminated front and rear center console area and front and rear door pockets.
Alloy wheels are 21 x 9.5J with a machine cut finish fitted with P 275/45 R21 all-season tires along with bright finish front, side and rear lower body trim, a "shark fin antenna," and two additional exterior colors are available.
PHEV Premium Plus
The range-topping trim adds to the seven-seater Premium trim the likes of a heated steering wheel, automatic power folding side mirrors, auto-dimming driver's side mirror, a windshield wiper de-icer, LED illuminated front footwells, a second-row center console with storage and two type C USB chargers.
Further enhancements are the Nappa leather-trimmed seats in the first and second-row outboard seating positions, plus heated second-row seats and interior-matched door panel inserts with contrast stitching and piping.
